Saint John Vianney High School is excited to announce the hiring of Lucia Marcozzi as its new Girls' Lacrosse Head Coach. Marcozzi brings a wealth of experience with her and is looking forward to building a championship-level program at the school.
Marcozzi was a standout defender and two-year captain on the women's lacrosse team at Bucknell University, where she received her degree in sustainable management and religious studies. During her college career, Marcozzi earned Patriot League Honor Roll appointments and was named the Second Team All-Patriot League Defensive Player as a freshman.
After college, Marcozzi dove headfirst into coaching, starting at the recreational level before moving to club and school. Most recently, Marcozzi saw success at the Princeton Day School, where she served as the Head Coach for two years and led the team to an appearance in the NJ Prep B Tournament Final.
During this time, Marcozzi was also coaching at 3D Garden State, where she also served as the central liaison between athletes and college coaches during prime recruiting years.
Marcozzi's passion for the sport of lacrosse led her to work towards growing the game. In 2023, she founded the first non-profit youth girls' lacrosse program in Metuchen, serving students in grades 1 through 8.
“We are thrilled to welcome Lucia Marcozzi to Saint John Vianney High School as our new girls lacrosse coach,” said President Steven DiMezza. “Lucia brings great experience in lacrosse, a strong faith, experienced leadership, and a passion for developing young women both on and off the field. We are confident she will be an outstanding mentor for our student-athletes and a tremendous addition to our community.”
Upon being hired, Marcozzi said, “I am so excited for the opportunity to coach at Saint John Vianney. My motivation for coaching has always been to help empower young women and build confidence on and off the field. My goal this spring season is to help every girl in our program fulfill their potential by working hard and winning each day. I’m eager to kick off with this talented group and develop a championship-level standard. I am so grateful to be a part of the SJV community that fosters an environment for athletics to thrive. Go Lancers!”
With her coaching background and experience supporting college-bound athletes through the recruiting process, Marcozzi is poised to foster growth, sportsmanship, and success at SJV.
