Athletics

Saint John Vianney High School is committed to providing a nurturing environment for students that encourages individual growth and development on all levels. We ensure not only academic and spiritual learning but also exciting athletic activities. Our high school athletics program offers 28 different varsity sports.

TEAMS AND COACHES

Rich Lamberson is the Athletic Director, assisted by Patrick Smith as the Assistant Athletic Director. We offer students an extensive selection of fall, winter, and spring sports opportunities.

During the fall, students can participate in football, boys and girls soccer, field hockey, girls tennis and volleyball, boys and girls cross country, cheer, and dance. Winter sports include boys and girls basketball and winter track, wrestling, bowling, ice hockey, swimming, cheer, and dance. Spring activities include boys tennis, boys and girls golf, lacrosse, track, baseball, softball, and boys volleyball.

Saint John Vianney High School regularly posts daily schedules for sporting events and practices for students and families. Recent scores are also updated on the website.

RECOGNITIONS AND HALL OF FAME

We congratulate all our athletes on participating in our high school athletics programs. We also post announcements and accolades about specific athletes or teams that achieve noteworthy accomplishments such as high scores or times, final rankings, and being named to conference teams.

Hall of Fame inductees are also posted on our website. Hall of Fame inductees include the 1973 cross-country and 1991 girls basketball teams.

FACILITIES

We are proud of our high school athletics facilities at Saint John Vianney High School. Our campus features 38 acres of land, including athletic fields, a six-lane track, two baseball fields, two softball fields, a soccer field, a lacrosse field, and a field hockey field. We also have a lighted turf athletic stadium. Our indoor facilities feature:

  • Gymnasium
  • State-of-the-art weight training room
  • Indoor Vianney Activity Center (Bubble or VAC)

At the end of the season, athletes are rewarded for their hard work and personal progress at an annual banquet. We regularly update the Hall of Fame with the names of exceptionally accomplished athletes or teams, ensuring each athlete is congratulated for noteworthy accomplishments.

TRAINING

Students are welcome to participate in our strength and conditioning training, designed to help athletes excel in various sports. The program goals of this training involve preparing athletes to participate in sports programs safely and to compete successfully. Weight training has been found to be especially effective for building strength, enhancing performance, and improving agility.
