St. John Vianney High School is pleased to announce the appointment of John Dehm as the new Head Coach of the boys’ lacrosse team. Dehm brings years of experience and a proven track record of success at the high school level, marking an exciting new chapter for the Lancers’ lacrosse program.
Dehm comes to St. John Vianney following a long tenure at Christchurch School (VA), where he served as the Head Coach of the boys’ lacrosse team from 2014 to 2025. Under his leadership, the school consistently ranked among the top programs in the state, finishing in the top four of VISAA Division I in 2023, 2024, and 2025, despite being the smallest school in the division. His teams have been division runner-ups multiple times and have produced NCAA champions, collegiate All-Americans, and national award winners.
Beyond his coaching achievements, Dehm is known for developing student-athletes both on and off the field. He has sent players to compete at top collegiate programs, including Cornell University, Boston University, Quinnipiac University, and the University at Albany. He also spearheaded leadership initiatives through a Captains’ Council and played a key role in the growth of co-curricular activities during his time as the Director of Athletics and Co-Curriculars at Christchurch.
Dehm is a graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where he played lacrosse and served as team captain. He holds a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Economics and currently works as the Associate Dean of Enrollment at the Ranney School.
“We are thrilled to welcome John to St. John Vianney as our new Boys’ Lacrosse Head Coach,” said Steven DiMezza, President of St. John Vianney High School. “As a coach, John has demonstrated his dedication to student-athletes’ success on and off the field, and we are confident that under his leadership, this program will make our school and community proud."
“I’m incredibly grateful to Russell Gartz, Brian Chapman, and Steven DiMezza for this opportunity at SJV, and to my colleagues at Ranney School for supporting me in doing what I love each spring—coaching the game of lacrosse. I’m excited to use this sport not just to compete, but as a powerful tool to help shape resilient, respectful, and driven young men.”
Dehm is looking forward to building a championship-level lacrosse program at St. John Vianney High School, adding to the school’s tradition of athletic and academic excellence.
