Saint John Vianney High School in Holmdel, New Jersey, is committed to encouraging the growth of every individual on our campus. This commitment is not only academic but extends to athletics as well. Our Girls Basketball team provides an excellent opportunity for our students to have fun while growing stronger and developing fundamental skills that will help them throughout their lives.
About Our Girls’ Basketball Program
Coached by Dawn Karpell, the Girls Basketball program has been long esteemed for its excellence – especially since 1991, when the team earned its place in the Saint John Vianney High School Hall of Fame. Coach Karpell challenges each individual to succeed, not only on a personal level but also in terms of teamwork.
Strength and Conditioning
The SJVHS Girls Basketball Team takes advantage of our strength and conditioning program to keep its athletes at the top of their game. This program trains in strength, mobility, speed, agility, and plyometrics. It challenges every part of a student athlete’s ability, helping them reach their full potential on the court and beyond.
A Philosophy of Personal Growth
As a Catholic school, we encourage every student to cultivate their growth in every area: academic, social, physical, emotional, and spiritual. Our sports programs always play a vital part in this mission. To us, basketball isn’t just a game; it’s an opportunity for students to learn, evolve as individuals, and become positively impactful adults.
On the court, the Girls Basketball team will learn the fundamentals of commitment, strategy, and team cooperation. These values contribute to their social and emotional development. Not only that, but they’ll also be essential to the student-athletes success both now and after graduation. As students pursue higher education and meaningful careers, the skills they learned on the court will stick with them for the rest of their lives.
