Our Girls Basketball Team in Holmdel, New Jersey
Saint John Vianney High School in Holmdel, New Jersey, is committed to encouraging the growth of every individual on our campus. This commitment is not only academic but extends to athletics as well. Our Girls Basketball team provides an excellent opportunity for our students to have fun while growing stronger and developing fundamental skills that will help them throughout their lives.
About Our Girls’ Basketball Program
Coached by Dawn Karpell, the Girls Basketball program has been long esteemed for its excellence – especially since 1991, when the team earned its place in the Saint John Vianney High School Hall of Fame. Coach Karpell challenges each individual to succeed, not only on a personal level but in terms of teamwork as well.
As they train, our high school athletes enjoy all the facilities of our fully equipped athletic center, including the:
- Lighted stadium with a turf field
- State-of-the-art weight training room
- Indoor Vianney Activity Center
- And more
At the end of the season, athletes are rewarded for their hard work and personal progress at an annual banquet. We regularly update the Hall of Fame with the names of especially accomplished athletes or teams, making sure each athlete is congratulated for noteworthy accomplishments.
Strength and Conditioning
Saint John Vianney High School offers a complete strength and conditioning program to keep our athletes at the top of their game. It preps their bodies for the demands of the athletic season, helping them maximize their potential while keeping them healthy. The program’s main goals are to:
- Strengthen muscles, tendons, and ligaments to decrease the risk of injury
- Enhance athleticism for a more successful high school career
- Prepare students for collegiate-level sports
- Promote an intense but motivating atmosphere for all athletes
- Teach the importance of every component of training
To reach these goals, our program trains in strength, mobility, speed, agility, and plyometrics. It challenges every part of a student athlete’s ability, helping them reach their full potential on the court and beyond.
A Philosophy of Personal Growth
As a Catholic school, we encourage every student to cultivate their own growth in every area, whether academic, social, physical, emotional, or spiritual. Our sports programs always play a vital part in this mission. To us, basketball isn’t just a game. It’s an opportunity for students to learn, evolve as individuals, and become positively impactful adults.
On the court, the Girls Basketball team will learn the fundamentals of commitment, strategy, and team cooperation. These values contribute to their social and emotional development. Not only that, but they’ll also be essential to the student-athletes’ success both now and after graduation. As students go on to pursue higher education and meaningful careers, the skills they learned on the court will stick with them for the rest of their lives.
