Introduction to Computer and Data Science Using Python

Saint John Vianney High School is proud to offer your 7th or 8th grade child an Introduction to Computer and Data Science Using Python through our Vianney Institute. The class will be led by one of our own Early College Academy Computer Science students under the guidance of our faculty member Mr. McKenna, an adjunct computer science professor at Brookdale Community College and Saint John Vianney’s Network Administrator. If you child is interested in computer sciences, please continue to read the following information.

Have you ever wondered how your computer works? How video games are made? How the Internet was made? How rockets are sent up into space? Well, that would be thanks to programming! Because of programming languages like Python, we can engineer and develop technology that would not even be in the realm of magic a century ago. This course is centered on teaching the fundamentals of the Python programming language for all people with any or no prior skill level. A very common misconception is that only the smartest people can learn to program, and that is simple not the case. Anyone can learn to program, and what better way to start with Python! By the end of this course, you will walk away with the skills to write your own code to create your own unique programs!

Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday (Excluding Holidays) of each week from 3:00 – 4:15 PM

Choose: In-Person, Virtually, or in a Hybrid model.
