Father Vala was born on November 19, 1963 in Montclair, NJ and graduated from Verona High School in 1981. After earning a degree in Business Administration from Seton Hall University, he received a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Father Vala worked as a civil servant at Fort Monmouth as a computer programmer and database administrator before moving to Point Pleasant and serving as the head usher and religious education teacher at Saint Martha Parish. In 2004, Father Vala entered Immaculate Conception Seminary at Seton Hall University and graduated in 2009 with a Master’s Degree in Divinity. Subsequently, Bishop John M. Smith ordained him a priest for the Diocese of Trenton. He served as a parochial vicar in the parishes of Christ the King (Long Branch) and Saint Gregory the Great (Hamilton), and a chaplain at Monmouth Medical Center before his appointment as pastor of Saint Clement Church in 2016. Father Vala assists with the masses at Saint John Vianney High School.
