Grading System
The year is divided into two terms or four nine week marking periods. Students take four courses each eighteen weeks or half year. Final grades are determined by the marking period grades and final exam of the term just completed. Courses are taught eighteen, or thirty-six weeks. In general, courses which used to be taught over the academic year are now completed in eighteen weeks or two marking periods. Only students enrolled in Advanced Placement (AP) courses will be taking thirty-six week courses.

Classes of 2006, 2007
In A.P. courses, all quality points are increased by 1.7 units.  In honors courses, all quality points are increased by one (1) unit.  The student who earns a grade of A in an honors course will receive five quality points instead of four, a B grade earns fours points instead of three; a C receives three points instead of two; and a D earns 2 points instead of one.  No credit will be given for a failing grade.  Weighted courses are designed to encourage academically able students to select the most rigorous courses.

Classes of 2008, 2009
A.P courses will be increased by .7 units.
Honors courses will be increased by .5 units.

Honor & Advanced Placement Classes
Honors, Advanced Placement and special interest courses are offered in all areas of the curriculum.

Honor Roll & Honor Roll Awards
An Honor Roll will be posted following each marking period.  The Honor Roll will consist of two categories:
  • Honor Roll of Distinction:  Straight "A's" in all subjects
  • Honor Roll: A's or B's in all subjects
Awards for Honor Roll of Distinction and Honor Roll will be given at an annual Awards Ceremony to all students who have attained Honor Roll for the first three quarters of any current year and the fourth quarter of the previous year.  There will be four distinct Honor Roll Awards for each grade level.

Class Ranking
Students are not assigned a rank in class, a decision approved by the administration in 2003. In the absence of class rank, the school presents a variety of relevant charts and statistics on the school profile.
