Scholarship Funds for Attending Students 

All scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the administration and scholarship committees.  They are renewable over 4 years unless specified otherwise.    In order to be considered a candidate for a scholarship, qualified applicants must meet all standard criteria for each scholarship offered below:  

Lancer Scholarship

Awarded annually to four incoming freshmen based partially on an application and essay. Student must be a practicing Catholic, have maintained a B average for grades 6 through 8, be involved in extra-curricular activities, maintain a good attendance record and should demonstrate leadership skills by his/her involvement in the parish or community. The scholarship is renewable providing the student maintains a B average at Saint John Vianney, remains involved in school activities and is not a discipline problem. Scholarship value is approximately $500.00 each year.

Christopher Allingham Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship was funded in memory of Christopher Allingham, Class of ’83, who was a victim of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. The scholarship funds will be used for a student in financial need.

John & Sylvia Resta Memorial Scholarship

The family of John ‘79 and his wife Sylvia has established a scholarship in memory of the couple who unfortunately were victims of the 9/11 attacks at the World Trade Center. John along with his siblings Christine ‘75, Dawn ‘81 and Michael ‘78 are all Saint John Vianney High School alumni. The scholarship will be awarded to a practicing Catholic from the Bayshore Area and will be renewable annually.

Audrey Gomez Memorial Scholarship

Audrey’s teammates, classmates, and their parents and friends established the Gomez scholarship in January 2002. The funds generated by the scholarship are to be used for a Saint John Vianney High School student in need of financial assistance. The amount of the scholarship will be determined by the administration and scholarship committee.

Kathy Ward Memorial Scholarship

Tuition relief to a family with financial hardship or terminial illness. A one-time gift.

Jack Steinberg Memorial Scholarship

Tuition relief for a student who has lost a parent. The amount of the scholorship and renewal is dependent upon the family's financial needs.

The Margaret T. Lenihan Scholarship

The family of Margaret T. Lenihan, whose 17 of 19 grandchildren attended Saint John Vianney High School, has established a memorial scholarship in her name for a student in financial need. Nominations for the scholarship are made by the administration with the final decision determined by the family. The first scholarship was awarded in November 2000 and has been funded through an annual summer picnic. The scholarship has a value of $1,000.00 and is renewable annually providing the student remains in good standing.

Monica Mazurkiewicz Scholarship

Monica Mazurkiewicz served in the religious studies department at Saint John Vianney High School from 1977 through 1999. She devoted her teaching career to seniors particularly in the Christian Service program. The criteria for determining the recipient of the scholarship is that the candidate is completing their junior year of studies, is in need of financial assistance and exhibits either excellence in religious studies or an extraordinary commitment to community service.

Daniel Falco Memorial Scholarship

The Dan Falco Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Daniel Falco by his family and friends. Daniel was a sophomore, wonderful student, wrestler and football player. This scholarship is intended to recognize a student athlete, who in the judgement of the selection committee, represents the same high character, catholic morals, personal fortitude, discipline and dedication demonstrated by Daniel while he was a student at Saint John Vianney High School. Donations can made to the Daniel Falco Memorial Scholarship c/o Saint John Vianney High School.

Friends and Family of Saint John Vianney Scholarship

The friends and family scholarship is a combination of many smaller scholarships that have been combined into one fund to provide a greater return. The funds available from this scholarship come from the following areas:

  • The Jane Pierson Scholarship
  • The Arthur Lembo Scholarship
  • The Friends of Anita Morelli Scholarship
  • The Pat Costigan Scholarship
