This Course of Studies Guide describes the course offerings of Saint John Vianney High School. We hope that through the use of this information, the students of Saint John Vianney High School will develop their capabilities, enrich their personal lives, and enhance their growth as Christian leaders.
Students are urged to carefully read the descriptions of the course. They should seriously consider present needs, achievements, and interests, as well as graduation requirements. Future goals and ambitions should be weighed. When considering these factors, students should turn to their parents, teachers, and guidance counselors for needed help in making decisions that are appropriate for them. Whatever the students’ plans, they should be taking the most challenging courses they can within their academic abilities.
PARTICIPATION IN COLLEGE ATHLETICS
Students who intend to participate in NCAA athletics in college must be certified by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Certain academic criteria in high school must be met in order to participate in college athletics at this level. Counselors can help determine whether or not initial eligibility standards apply. If standards do apply, an NCAA Clearinghouse application should be obtained from http://eligibilitycenter.org/ Meeting minimum NCAA eligibility requirements will not guarantee admission into the college of choice. It is recommended that college coaches and parents work with SJV's Guidance Services on strategies for college admissions.
